Joint-School New Zealand Study Tour 2026
Eight Primary 4 to 6 students from our school joined the Joint-School New Zealand Study Tour 2026, embarking on a memorable ten-day journey of learning, cultural exchange, and friendship. Upon arrival, students visited a local supermarket, toured their host schools with senior student guides, and met their paired host families. Over the following days, they explored New Zealand's natural and cultural heritage — hiking Mangere Mountain to learn about local volcanic history, participating in interactive Māori culture workshops, and experiencing the sacred "Hongi" greeting ceremony. Students also immersed themselves in local school life by attending classes alongside their New Zealand buddies, where they studied local history, compared the unique characteristics of New Zealand and Hong Kong, tried their hands at handicrafts, and took on STEM coding and problem-solving challenges. Beyond the classroom, highlights included a guided tour of Saint Patrick's Cathedral led by Father Mark, a fun-filled visit to the Auckland Zoo, and a relaxing Sunday spent with host families enjoying authentic Kiwi weekend life. A special moment came during a morning assembly at the boys' school, where the Principal publicly welcomed our Hong Kong students with individual handshakes. The tour concluded with heartfelt farewell ceremonies at Liston College and St. Dominic's Catholic College, during which student representatives delivered presentations on their tour highlights and every participant received a certificate. Amid warm hugs, tearful goodbyes, and a shared meal with their buddies and host families, it was clear that this study tour had left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
